Transform your toilet paper impact with 4 eco-friendly options

How much toilet paper do you use? Traditional toilet paper is made with a lot of trees and water. Like, a LOT. We all know that toilet paper is a necessity, but it has a bigger impact than you think. And if you’re like most people, the only time you think about your toilet paper is when it’s running out and you need to go buy more.

Luckily, there are some great options out there today if you’re looking to make the switch to something with a smaller impact. Here are 4 great substitutes for traditional toilet paper and they each can be delivered right to your door!

Certified B Corp, Plastic Free product

Who Gives A Crap was started when they learned that 2.4 billion people don’t have access to a toilet (now 2 billion – yay for progress!). That’s roughly 40% of the global population and means that around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That’s almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes.

So in July 2012, Who Gives A Crap was launched with a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo and delivered their first product in March 2013. This is great news, not just because their toilet paper is gracing bathrooms across the country, but also because they donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world.

Black-owned, Plastic Free packaging

Reel is more than just a paper company. A team of like-minded, big-hearted individuals came together with distinct vision shaped by the challenges they see others facing here in the U.S. and around the world – challenges like climate change, lack of sufficient resources, food deserts, and an absolute need for us all to take better care of the planet and each other.

They asked, “What if there was a product that helped reduce waste, encouraged conscious consumerism, was made sustainably, AND helped improve the quality of life for disadvantaged people worldwide?”

Now there is. Reel Paper is made of 100% bamboo, plus, all of their shipping materials are biodegradable and use plastic-free packaging. Now available in Target, too!

Plastic free, Made from Bamboo, fun colors and patterns

No.2 toilet paper is 100% bamboo, biodegradable, and clog & septic safe. It’s also free of any added dyes, scents, or BPA. With an array of fun, vibrant wraps, their toilet paper rolls don’t have to be stuffed into a cabinet. Each roll is wrapped in bright colors and designs, making them easy to store and show off!  Plus, each wrapper is printed with soy ink.

Carbon-free partner & eco-packaging alliance

Bippy is soft, absorbent, lint- and fragrance-free, and most importantly: sustainable. It’s made of bamboo fibers, which are exceptionally soft yet extremely strong and dependable. And, because bamboo creates more oxygen, uses more carbon, and doesn’t have to be replanted like trees, it’s a triple bonus of environmental sustainability. Woot!
