04 Apr Learn to build a Tiny house; Northeast, 2015
2015 is going to be a great year. It’s chaotic and messy, but great. I’m excited about my new, on-the-horizon adventures as Tiny Home Helper and I’m rapidly finishing up and putting a bow on my current life so I can launch into the future full-steam ahead.
I’m looking forward to my upcoming trip to the Tiny House Jamboree, in Colo. Springs, in August. Also, I’m really excited about a few workshops coming up this spring & summer and I’m doing my very best to attend at least one:
Tiny House Hands-on Building & Design Workshop
May; Putnam, Connecticut
3 Days (5/1–3): $399
Three day workshop building inside an art gallery. MANY instructors, guest speakers, hands-on building, collaborative art & decor projects—even a live musical guest on night one (which also coincides with the gallery opening for NYC artist Maltee Sarinan). What we build will also be on-display to the public, and donated to this gallery to help them maintain their space and mission.
Tiny House Building Workshop
June; Worcester, Massachusetts
Week 1 (6/1–5): $850
Week 2 (6/8–12): $850
Both weeks (6/1–12): $1575
This workshop will teach everything from tiny house design and choosing a trailer to framing and sheathing, windows and doors and environmentally friendly internal systems. Participants will learn the art and science of tiny house building in this 100% hands-on workshop which will start with an empty trailer and end with a house.
Women only: Tiny House framing for beginners
June; Trumansburg, New York
5 days (6/1–5): $750
Hammerstone School offers a variety of carpentry courses for women. For this class, a client of Hammerstone Construction has generously agreed to let her tiny house be their class project. The Tiny will be framed by this class, and then finished by the client & Hammerstone’s construction crew. During the 5-day class you’ll frame & insulate the floor, frame & sheathe the walls, and frame & sheathe the roof. Pre-requisites: any of their Basic Carpentry Skills 101 workshops.
